Declaration on accessibility

This declaration on accessibility applies to the website https://umwelt.info of the German Environment Agency. 

As a public sector body in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/2102 we endeavour to make our website accessible, comply with the legal provisions of the German Act on Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (Behindertengleichstellungsgesetz - BGG) and the Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology (BITV 2.0).
 

Compatibility status with requirements

The accessibility requirements are set out in Sections 3 (1) to (4) and 4 of BITV 2.0, which was issued on the basis of Section 12d BGG.

The review of compliance with the requirements is based on a self-assessment carried out in June 2024. Based on the review, the website is largely compatible with the aforementioned requirements.  The following barriers are still in place:

  1. Information on key content of the website is not yet available in sign language.
  2. Instructions for navigating the website are not yet available in sign language.
  3. Explanations of key accessibility content and explanations of accessibility are not yet available in sign language.
  4. References to further available information on the website in sign language and simple english are not yet available.

Arbitration procedure

The Federal Government Commissioner for Matters relating to Persons with Disabilities has an Arbitration Service in accordance with § 16 BGG. The Arbitration Service should resolve conflicts between people with disabilities and federal public bodies.

You can contact the arbitration Service if you are not satisfied with the answers you receive from the above-mentioned contact option. With the help of the arbitration service, a solution to your problem should be found jointly and out of court. The arbitration procedure is free of charge, a legal counsel is not needed. You can find all information about the conciliation procedure on the conciliation service website.
